September Accommodation Requests

Main content start

Request for Accommodations

When you confirm your participation in SoCo or Arts Intensive, you will also complete a post-confirmation questionnaire and will report any OAE accommodation needs, dietary concerns, emergency contact info, etc. After confirmation is the right to raise any specific concerns that you may have. Any special arrangements must be fully confirmed no later than August 10.

Academic Accommodations

If you have academic OAE accommodations, as during the academic year, please contact your Disability Adviser to get your letter of accommodations and communicate your needs to the course instructor(s) directly, cc'ing the program director Dayo Mitchell. Please note that the intense pace of a three-week course may mean that details of academic accommodations need to be translated for the short immersive class.

Housing Accommodations

If you have housing OAE accommodations, please send your housing accommodation letter to the sophcollege@stanford.edu or artsintensive@stanford.edu email after confirming your place. SoCo/Arts Intensive will make every attempt to address accommodation requests confirmed by OAE. However, the program is typically housed in complexes that do not offer kitchens or private bathrooms, and so cannot offer the full range of possible housing accommodations.

Field Trip Accommodations

Experiential learning means that SoCo and Arts Intensive are busy and active--even for on-campus classes, many field trips are full days with a lot of movement around different locations, and limited access to bathrooms. Travel classes can be even more complex. When you confirm your spot, we will ask you to report any potential challenges and will discuss case-by-case accommodations with you and your faculty.

Seminars With Travel

While traveling, students are assigned a roommate and live in doubles. We cannot promise singles or other housing accommodations during travel, but will discuss case-by-case.

Students in seminars with travel who have strict dietary restrictions, disabilities, or medical conditions should be aware that specific travel locations and conditions may impact the level of treatment and accommodation available at off-campus locations. Students should give serious consideration to their health and personal circumstances when accepting a place in a seminar with travel and should consult with their physicians if necessary. We've attempted to explain any special considerations on the course webpage, and please email sophcollege@stanford.edu or artsintensive@stanford.edu if you have questions before or after applying.
