Calendar 2026

Main content start

You'll have 11 weeks in June, July, and August to spend on relaxation, jobs, internships, or whatever you please, before coming to campus for SoCo or Arts Intensive. However, many classes will have you do some summer reading and short assignments before arriving—ask your faculty in the spring class meeting.

Once you arrive on campus on Sunday 30 August, most classes meet every weekday. Don't plan any travel—many classes will hold field trips or movie nights on weekends and evenings, plus organize social events. Program-wide events let you catch up with friends in other classes. Move-Out gives you a chance to settle into your academic year housing early.

In addition to your class syllabus, you should expect....

Move-In

SoCo and Arts Intensive Check in are on Sunday, August 30, 12noon-4pm, location TBD. Learn more about living and eating on campus

Welcome/House Meeting

After dinner on Move-In Day, we'll gather as a program to meet the staff team and go over some basics.

Class Community Meeting

After the Welcome on Move-In Day, your SCAs and AIAs will gather your class for the first community meeting, getting to know your classmates.

Class Opening Dinner

The evening of the first class, you'll have dinner with your faculty to begin getting to know them outside of the classroom. Some faculty select a restaurant in Palo Alto, others opt for an on-campus picnic.

SoCo & Arts Intensive Picnic

All 200 students gather for dinner, lawn games, and arts and crafts.

Get Your Move On

Move into Fall Housing early, yay! You can start settling in for the academic year. But remember to pack light--you have to tote your stuff across campus. Learn more about moving

Symposium and Showcase

Show off what you've been doing for the last three weeks! We'll have performances, exhibits, and poster sessions. Invite your friends and family to see.

After September

SoCo and Arts Intensive fund a reunion with your faculty each year until you graduate. Many students remain friends, and faculty often become advisors and mentors.
